Joan Waldron - Church Board President

Joan lives in Grass Lake and spends her time sharing her interest with her husband such as crafts, camping and reading. "I enjoy St. John's for the neighborhood and family orientation of the church," she said.

Joan often reflects on her favortie Bible passage John 3:16 which states: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Robert Anderson - Board Member

Robert lives in Grass lake with his wife Rachael and 2 kids Solomon and Zachariah. He works full time at the Borders Headquarters in Ann Arbor in the IT department. Robert has lived in Grass Lake for 3 years and has been attending St. Johns for almost 2 years. He really likes the fellowship that St. Johns has to offer and the strong biblically based teaching.

Robert enjoys spending time with this family, reading the Bible and his favorite authors like; C.S. Lewis, Oswald Chambers, and Max Lucado.
One of his favorite passages is Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."

Cindy Treciak - Church Treasurer

Cindy resides in Michigan Center and is employed as a social worker. She spends much of her free time playing cards, bowling or reading. "St. John's and its congregation feel like family," says Cindy. "The caring nature of this congregation is terific."

Cindy's favorite passage from the Bible is Matthew 22: 37-40, which states: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Michele Lyson - Secretary

Michele is a full-time mom and part-time employee at Imagination Station Preschool. She is married to Joe and has 2 lovely children, Emily [age 7] and Ryan [age 3]. She and her family have lived in Grass Lake since 1999 and enjoy everything outdoors.

"What I like about St. Johns is the beauty of a small church and how the people are truly caring to everyone" Michele said. Her favorite bible verse is Psalms 62:1 - "Truly my soul sliently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation."

Lee Ann Raica - Board Member

Lee Ann Raica has lived in the Grass Lake Community for the past ten years with her husband Dave Raica. She has four children, two step-children and seven grandchildren. Lee Ann works part time for her family-owned printing business that has been in business for over 100 years. She loves spending time with her grandchildren and enjoys long walks, bike riding, swimming, fishing, bowling and entertaining family and friends.

"I am so blessed to be a part of the St John's United Church of Christ Family. Our very first visit there convinced us that was the church for our family" said Lee Ann. "I welcome the opportunity to be on the board to promote growth within our community and family church members."

Kathy Gillespie - Board Member

Kathy Gillespie became a member of the Church in December of 1995. She has been happily married to Jack Gillespie for twenty-six years. They have two daughters both of whom graduated from Grass Lake High School; where she is currently working in the school's cafeteria and as a bus driver.

Kathy enjoys stamping, sewing, kayaking and cooking. Having attended St. Johns UCC for over thirteen years she enjoys the family-like atmosphere of the church and the inspiring Sunday sermons.

Sandy Pierce - Board Member

Sandy Pierce has been attending St. John's church for the past 14 years. She lives in the Grass Lake area with her daughter, Jennie Hartman. She is employed at the Comfort Inn in Chelsea as the head of housekeeping services.

Besides being on the church board, Sandy is very active in the Women's Fellowship, sings in the church choir and enjoys playing Euchre with the group that gathers twice a month in the Fellowship hall.

Carolyn S. Stempien - Board Member

Carolyn was born and raised in the Dearborn , Michigan area, along with one sister and two brothers. Her parents both worked in the automobile industry. They have always been a close family, with her mother being the tie that binds them together. Carolyn has two children, Chris and Michele, and a son-in-law, Joe. She has three grandchildren, Christopher, Emily and Ryan, which she adores all. She feels honored to be part of such a wonderful church group, who now have become her "special friends and family". "I am truly blessed", said Carolyn. She enjoys being with her family and friends and loves antiquing, reading mysteries, oil painting, crafts of all sorts and mostly her camera. "I am always trying for that special picture".

Carolyn's favorite Bible passage is Isaiah 26:4 "Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God you have an everlasting rock".
